Culture Experience Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shinichiro Kamaura; hereinafter referred to as "CX") has renovated the "TSUTAYA BOOKS Shizuoka Main Store," which opened in 2007, and has opened a new "BOOK & CAFE" where customers can choose a book over coffee, as well as a sales area in collaboration with manufacturers and retailers across a variety of industries selling miscellaneous goods such as food, baby & kids, apparel, and beauty products.The store will reopen as "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Shizuoka" on Friday, April 25, 2025.
"TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Shizuoka" will be opening a new style of general merchandise sales floor in September 2024, offering a wide range of products from various genres along with books in order to broaden the range of lifestyle suggestions. This sales floor will feature brand partners such as Akachan Honpo, Hareru Tsunagaru Market, Skechers, and Orange, and will offer miscellaneous goods and related books in the same space, creating an "experiential bookstore" that offers lifestyle suggestions to brighten up your daily life. In addition, we will open a place where customers can get nail care and hair care that can be done in their daily lives, for customers with a wider range of lifestyles.
CX offers lifestyle suggestions that are in line with the times. In today's world where lifestyles and ways of living are becoming increasingly diverse, we will provide our customers with an opportunity to experience what they love by offering a wide range of items, genres, and services.
Key points of the "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Shizuoka" renewal
1. Developing one of the largest new general merchandise sales floors in Japan
We will collaborate with 10 to 15 manufacturers and retailers from a variety of industries to develop a new style of general merchandise sales floor. Until now, we have been a "place for proposing lifestyles" and have offered our customers a diverse worldview that starts with books and magazines, and combines them with stationery and miscellaneous goods. To further broaden the range of lifestyle proposals, we will collaborate with manufacturers and retailers as brand partners in each of the miscellaneous goods categories that CX is strengthening, and will take on the challenge of creating a new sales format that seamlessly distributes miscellaneous goods and books tailored to the characteristics of each store across brand boundaries. For example, in the "Baby & Kids" category, we offer children's clothing and everyday items for children from a variety of manufacturers, as well as picture books and parenting magazines, to make lifestyle suggestions that will make everyday life more enjoyable.
2. "BOOK & CAFE" where you can enjoy a book with a cup of coffee
At BOOK & CAFE, you can enjoy choosing a book over coffee, and we offer a space where you can relax more than ever before. In addition to the 31 seats inside the cafe, there are also 37 shared seats inside the TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE store, where you can relax and take your time choosing your favorite book.
3. Nail care and hair care in daily life
The store will house a nail salon called "TN Nails" and a hair color salon called "SEVEN COLORS."You can experience becoming even more beautiful before or after shopping in the store, on your way home from work, or on your days off. With speedy nails in as little as 15 minutes and hair coloring in just 60 minutes, you can take care of your hair efficiently even during busy days.
