- Towards achieving net-zero CO2 emissions in the Karuizawa area by 2050 -
Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Head office: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; President and CEO: Yasunori Takahashi; hereinafter referred to as "CCC") has joined the Asama Zero Carbon Consortium, a platform that brings together businesses and local governments on a wide scale to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions in the Karuizawa area.
CCC is based in Karuizawa Common Grounds, which opened in March 2023 in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, with the aim of serving as a local community hub that fosters culture, interaction, and vitality. In collaboration with Chubu Electric Power Miraiz Co., Ltd., CCC is working to develop the city through social collaboration services aimed at local energy production and consumption and optimization. Specifically, solar power generation equipment will be installed in stores within Karuizawa Common Grounds and in the surrounding residential area, and a system will be established to share the renewable energy generated there within the local area. Additionally, electric vehicles (EVs) with charging and discharging functions have been installed in the parking spaces, and through these efforts, we aim to create a community that effectively utilizes renewable energy and functions as a disaster prevention base.
By participating in this consortium, we will promote sustainable development in the region and the realization of a carbon-neutral society through Karuizawa Common Grounds and the new commercial facility at the north exit of Karuizawa Station, scheduled to open in spring 2026.
We will continue to contribute to urban development as a community hub for people living in and visiting the Karuizawa area.
