- A base for creating new culture and value in Yomitan Village as the central facility of "Yun Lab Miraikan" -
In partnership with Yomitan Village, Nakagami District, Okinawa Prefecture (Mayor: Denzane Ishimine, hereinafter referred to as "Yomitan Village"), Golden Ring Co., Ltd. (Head office: Yomitan Village, Nakagami District, Okinawa Prefecture; Representative Director: Yutaka Uechi, hereinafter referred to as "Golden Ring") is operating the comprehensive information center "Yun Lab Miraikan" as an SPC for Yomitan Village's first PFI project, and the center will have its grand opening on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Head office: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; President and CEO: Yasunori Takahashi; hereinafter referred to as "CCC") is a member of the Golden Ring Project and is participating in a PFI project for the first time as CCC. CCC was responsible for the interior construction of the Yomitan Village Library, the central facility of the YunLab Miraikan, and created four worldviews in the space: liveliness, concentration, an invitation to learn, and kids. Furthermore, once it opens, it will be a comfortable place for the residents of Yomitan Village, and will be responsible for managing the relocated and renovated Yomitan Village Library, based on the concept of being a "multicultural co-creation hub that weaves and nurtures authenticity."
The newly renovated Yomitan Village Library will be open 364 days a year (※), from 10am to 10pm, as a base for creating new culture and values for the next generation of Yomitan Village.
(※) The museum will be closed on Memorial Day.
Seven features of Yomitan Village Library
(1) A library that resembles a villager's home, unique to Yomitan Village
The spacious, home-like, comfortable space will be filled with unique areas, including a Starbucks where people can gather like in a living room, a study-like space where people can immerse themselves in reading, and a children's library that will stimulate the creativity of children who will lead the future.
(2) Starbucks: Enjoy reading while drinking coffee
Starbucks is seamlessly connected to the library, allowing you to enjoy a book from the library with your coffee.
(3) A "Children's Library" that stimulates children's creativity
The children's area, called the "Children's Library," has approximately 15,000 children's books, as well as educational toys to stimulate creativity, and a craft space called "Tsukurana," which uses recycled materials from local businesses. There is also indoor play equipment, which helps children have fun while also giving them the opportunity to read.
(4) Pop-up event and book sales to promote the charm of Yomitan Village
We will have a permanent pop-up store selling Okinawa products, with a focus on traditional crafts made with the passion of Yomitan Village artisans. We will create a sales area together with the people of Yomitan Village and deliver the charm of Yomitan Village to many people both inside and outside the village. Furthermore, in Yomitan Village, which does not have a bookstore, we will collaborate with second-hand bookstores in Okinawa Prefecture to sell a selection of second-hand books, mainly those related to Okinawa and lifestyle.
(5) Hold more than 150 events per year in which Yomitan villagers play a leading role
We aim to become a communication hub for all Yomitan villagers by holding over 150 events a year that anyone can enjoy at any time, such as events and workshops hosted by players living in Yomitan village, markets created in collaboration with businesses in the village and prefecture, events that provide a venue for local junior and senior high school students to perform, and weekend storytime sessions.
(6) Collaboration with professionals
We will actively engage in initiatives that allow people to experience both the history and future of Yomitan Village, such as co-hosting events with the OIST Science Studio, which is located in the YunLab Miraikan, and holding joint exhibitions with the Yomitan Village History Editorial Office.
(7) Digital services
You can link your user card account through the Yomitan Village Library's official LINE account, allowing you to borrow, search, and reserve library materials with just your smartphone. We also post event information on our official LINE account, so you can always feel close to Yomitan Village Library.
