Additionally, the CCC Group is planning to open its first store in the Yilan area of eastern Taiwan at the end of 2026. Through promoting local culture and creating lifestyle-oriented facilities, the group will work to create a base that will serve as a "cultural bridge" connecting Taiwan and Japan.

LOI signed with the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan

The CCC Group first entered Taiwan in 2012. Starting with "TSUTAYA Asia Art Film" which mainly focused on DVD and CD rentals, the company has expanded into full-scale "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE" stores since 2017, with 12 stores across Taiwan, three of which also have "SHARE LOUNGE" attached.

Taiwan TSUTAYA has not only promoted Japanese culture, but has also respected and integrated Taiwanese culture to develop an "original Taiwanese TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE."

Furthermore, at the Business Alliance Conference held in December 2023, hosted by the Taiwanese government, we were recognized as a Japanese company that has contributed to the Taiwanese economy by continuing to open stores actively despite the COVID-19 pandemic, steadily building trust and recognition from Taiwanese society.

The signing of this LOI with the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan is an extension of these steps, and by making the following long-term and ongoing commitments in Taiwan, the CCC Group will further contribute to the development of Taiwan's cultural and creative industries through publishing, bookstores, and lifestyle-oriented facilities.

•Establishing a formal relationship of trust with the Taiwanese government
•Recognition and support for the culture and lifestyle industries
•Possibility of support such as simplified administrative procedures and tax incentives
•Improve brand value in Taiwan and promote collaboration with local companies
•Expanding opportunities to participate in urban redevelopment projects

First store opening in Yilan area, eastern Taiwan

Yilan is located in northeastern Taiwan and has a population of approximately 450,000. It is a naturally rich region surrounded by the sea and mountains, and is popular for its hot springs and seaside tourism. The opening of the Xueshan Tunnel in 2006 made it possible to access the area from Taipei in approximately 30 minutes, increasing its appeal as a tourist destination. However, while the area is blessed with abundant nature and a hot spring culture, it has few commercial facilities and is dominated by quiet residential areas, making it difficult to develop commercial facilities.

Taiwan TSUTAYA is collaborating with its partner company, Dezu Construction Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, "DEZU"), to open a TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE at the end of 2026 in Yilan County, eastern Taiwan, as the core of a designer apartment and complex that will blend in with nature. Urban development is planned for the future with the extension of the Shinkansen line, and the opening of TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE as a cultural hub is expected to bring new value to the region.

We believe that TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE will become a cultural hub that offers lifestyle suggestions and will help build the future of Yilan.

Going forward, through Taiwan TSUTAYA, the CCC Group will continue to play the role of a "cultural bridge" that delivers the best of Taiwan to the people of Japan and the best of Japan to the people of Taiwan, and will continue to build a hub for cultural creation throughout Taiwan.
