—A new hub connecting the cultures and futures of Japan and Taiwan, and showcasing the potential of Taiwanese creators to the world—

Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, President and CEO: Takanori Takahashi, hereinafter "CCC") and its subsidiary, Tsutaya Taiwan Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Tsutaya Taiwan"), opened "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Songyan" on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park (commonly known as Songyan), a leading cultural and creative area in Taipei City that utilizes historical buildings and attracts more than 11 million visitors annually.

A new challenge as a "hub for connecting cultures"

Located in the heart of Taipei, adjacent to the Taipei Dome, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park is an area that has been transformed from a historic building formerly used as a tobacco factory into one of Taiwan's leading cultural hubs, attracting over 11 million visitors annually.

Located in the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, a hub for young people and creators where new cultures and values are born daily, Taiwan Tsutaya is more than just a bookstore. It creates a space where new encounters and co-creations can flourish through experiences of engaging with books and art, participating in events, and conversing with others.

Bringing Taiwan's talent to the world.

As Taiwan Tsutaya enters its 14th year in Taiwan, we have had the opportunity to meet many fascinating creators and companies. On the other hand, Taiwan, with its market size of approximately 23 million people, has given me the opportunity to encounter many situations where talented individuals and valuable people are actively seeking opportunities and methods to further expand their potential.

Through these firsthand experiences, CCC and Tsutaya Taiwan have come to believe that a system is needed to connect outstanding culture and talent to a wider world. To achieve this, we believe it's crucial not only to deliver products and information, but also to create a "space" where people and cultures can meet, experiment, and generate new value through trial and error.

This store embodies these ideas as a physical space and is positioned as an experimental base for connecting Taiwanese culture and creativity to the world. In collaboration with our network of approximately 700 stores in Japan, we have decided to open a store in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park as an implementation base for connecting Taiwanese culture, products, and talent to Japan and the world.

Although it was an unprecedented challenge for a Japanese company, given that the facility is owned by the Taipei City government, we were able to make it a reality by sincerely conveying our desire to "create a base for spreading Taiwanese culture overseas" and gaining support from others.

■Features of "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Matsusumi Store"

In 2024, CCC renovated SHIBUYA TSUTAYA, transforming it from a place that sells products to a place that provides experiential and spatial value.

Based on that philosophy, "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Songyan Store" is a new store model adapted to Taiwan's cultural and creative scene, integrating books, miscellaneous goods, and art with events, exhibitions, and workspace functions.

We aim to implement cultural infrastructure in Taiwan as a "community hub" where customers, creators, and companies can interact and give rise to new businesses and cultures.

Inside the store, we showcase the charm of both Japanese and Taiwanese culture through books, miscellaneous goods, and art. In addition to new discoveries through book selections and exhibitions, we offer experiences where people can meet and interact through events and special exhibitions.

Furthermore, we will develop projects that combine Taiwanese creators and brands with Japanese cultural content, aiming to create unique cultural experiences specific to this location.

(1) "SHARE LOUNGE" and workspace that foster interaction and co-creation
The store also features "SHARE LOUNGE," a space that combines the functions of a cafe and an office, based on the concept of "a place where ideas are born and shared." It's a welcoming space where anyone can easily drop by and spend time freely, offering a versatile environment for work, meetings, and more.

Furthermore, by incorporating the office functions of Taiwan Tsutaya, we have created an environment where companies and creators can gather on a daily basis, fostering the generation of new ideas and projects. We aim to create a "co-creation space" where visitors, businesses, and creators can naturally interact, and where new value is born.

(2) Spaces that make use of historical buildings and diverse event experiences
This store is located within a renovated space that utilizes the historical buildings of Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, allowing you to spend time while feeling the culture and history.

The lounge area has approximately 80 seats, allowing guests to relax and unwind, and the space is also designed to be flexible enough to accommodate events of up to 150 people. We will utilize our exhibition and sound equipment to host events on a variety of themes, including art, fashion, and culture.

(3) Through technological collaboration with ASUS, we will create a space that expands expression and communication.
ASUS, a Taiwanese technology company that globally distributes professional IT and video equipment, shares the vision of Taiwan Tsutaya, which promotes cultural exchange between Japan and Taiwan and supports the expression and dissemination of Taiwanese creators, and will begin a collaboration at "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Songyan Store".

As part of this initiative, we installed the "ProArt Cinema 162-inch (PQ09UC)," the first large-scale LED display to be introduced for commercial use in Taiwan. It supports diverse content expressions such as exhibitions, videos, and events, enhancing the overall experiential value of the space.

Moving forward, both companies will continue to evolve beyond the traditional bookstore model, becoming a "hub for dissemination" that delivers Taiwan's cultural value both domestically and internationally, through the fusion of technology and culture.

(4) Projects and collaborations that connect Japanese and Taiwanese cultures
After opening, we will implement various initiatives to promote cultural exchange between Japan and Taiwan, and will feature products by Taiwanese creators originating from Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. We aim to further revitalize industrial exchange in collaboration with the Matsuyama Cultural and Creative Industries Promotion Center.

Furthermore, at the time of opening, a dedicated corner will be set up to introduce products by creators originating from Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, showcasing the appeal of new Taiwanese talent and brands, as well as "Bitter Melon Weaving (https://bitterthenbetter.com/) ``VERDE (https://www.verdemarble.com.tw/) "Studio UNTO (https://studiounto.com.tw/We plan to launch three brands: )

Furthermore, we position this initiative as the first step in building brand value in Taiwan over the medium to long term and then expanding into the Japanese market (reverse export).

An exhibition combining Taiwanese designer C JEAN's work with traditional Kyoto crafts (May 16th - end date TBD)

We will be hosting an exhibition featuring C JEAN, a leading Taiwanese fashion brand.

This project focuses on the materials, techniques, and underlying philosophies of Kyoto's traditional crafts, reinterpreting them from C JEAN's perspective. We create new forms of expression that connect crafts and fashion, the past and the present, and Japan and Taiwan.

Through these initiatives, we will promote the appeal of Taiwanese culture and creativity both domestically and internationally.

Through the relocation of its headquarters functions to this new location, CCC and Tsutaya Taiwan will strengthen their collaboration with Taipei City and Songshan Cultural and Creative Park.

In addition to supporting Taiwanese creators and companies in their overseas expansion, we will promote the creation of sustainable systems that support the cultural industries of both Japan and Taiwan, aiming to "implement a cultural infrastructure for Japan and Taiwan."
