- "Mubichike Card" utilizing the POSA prepaid card system will be available from February 17th -

Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd.'s Entertainment Business Division will begin selling "Mubichike Cards," advance movie tickets that allow you to reserve your seat online, at TSUTAYA stores nationwide from February 17th, in order to offer a variety of movie-watching opportunities beyond just renting and selling DVDs and Blu-rays for viewing at home.

The newly launched "Mubichike Card" uses a POSA-type prepaid card system and is activated upon purchase. It can be used in the same way as advance tickets at 1,822 screens at 228 sites across the country, including TOHO Cinemas, 109 Cinemas, and United Cinemas. Another feature is that you can reserve your seat in advance online at theaters that support Mubichike online reservations.

TSUTAYA has previously sold advance theater tickets at select stores in urban areas, but this time movie tickets will be available at 1,100 stores that also handle POSA-type prepaid cards for games and video software. Instead of selling movie tickets at a traditional counter, POSA-type movie ticket cards will be displayed and sold in a special corner of the sales floor for theatrical releases, where related films will be displayed and the appeal of the films will be conveyed.

Through the sale of POSA-type movie ticket cards, we aim to encourage TSUTAYA users who have become interested in a movie through related works to visit the theater, and also to convey the excitement of the movie to users who come to purchase advance tickets through related works, thereby proposing to users various ways to enjoy a single movie. We also hope that these developments will serve as a catalyst for the re-expansion of the entertainment market, which saw a slight decline in 2013.

The first title to go on sale from February 17th will be "Lone Survivor" (see below for details on the title).

TSUTAYA, which offers lifestyle suggestions centered on entertainment, is expanding into live entertainment beyond home entertainment in the music field, by acquiring naming rights for live music halls and holding live shows for CD purchasers. Similar to the recently announced "TSUTAYA Unearthed Film Festival," this movie ticket sale is positioned as a way to provide live entertainment that can be experienced and felt in the film industry.

■ First release: "Lone Survivor" (Mubichike card price: 1,400 yen each)
Release date: March 21st (Friday, national holiday)
Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster
    Eric Bana
Director: Peter Berg (director of "Kingdom / Invisible Enemy" and "Battleship")
At the end of the desperate battle, there was one man who miraculously survived. In 2005, four men on a reconnaissance mission in Afghanistan encountered civilians and were attacked by over 200 enemy soldiers, putting them in a desperate situation. However, three days later, only one person was miraculously found. What on earth happened? This action blockbuster depicts the unimaginable "truth" that moved the whole world to tears, and was nominated for two Academy Awards this year, becoming the No. 1 hit in the United States.
