Culture Experience Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shinichiro Kamaura; hereinafter referred to as "CX") has introduced "Hontasu," a labor-saving store operation solution developed by Nippon Shuppan Hanbai Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Ken Togashi; abbreviated as "Nippan") that enables hybrid manned and unmanned operations, to the "TSUTAYA 20th Century Gaoka Store" (Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture) operated by NIC Retails Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Junya Kondo; hereinafter referred to as "NIC").The solution will go into operation from 9:45 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, making it the first store to adopt "Hontasu" to operate 24 hours a day.

By introducing a new operating model that combines the store operation labor-saving solution "Hontasu" with TSUTAYA self-checkouts, TSUTAYA Nijisseikigaoka store will operate in a hybrid format, with staffed hours from 9:00 to 21:45 and unmanned hours from 21:45 to 9:00 the next morning, extending opening hours by 11 hours and 15 minutes compared to the previous period.
During unmanned business hours, customers can enter the store with their LINE membership card and enjoy a wide selection of books, magazines, stationery, video rentals, comic rentals, and more offered by TSUTAYA, and purchase items at the self-checkout. In addition, during manned business hours, our staff will provide you with attentive service.

TSUTAYA Nagareyama, the first TSUTAYA store to introduce Hontasu, will expand its unmanned opening hours from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 9:45 p.m. (11:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays) to 2:00 a.m. starting in January 2025. Due to the increased sales during unmanned business hours, overall store sales have increased compared to the previous year, and we are able to meet the various needs of local residents.

Building on the success of the TSUTAYA Nagareyama store, the TSUTAYA Nijisseikigaoka store will take on the challenge of operating 24 hours a day, including unmanned hours, by introducing Hontasu, thereby flexibly responding to a wide range of customer needs and improving convenience for the local area, while also aiming to achieve sustainable store operations by increasing store sales.
CX will continue to expand this new operating model, utilizing Hontasu and TSUTAYA self-checkouts, to TSUTAYA stores nationwide, aiming to flexibly respond to the diverse needs and lifestyles of customers and operate stores that are highly convenient for local residents.
