—First store opening inside a TSUTAYA store! Providing a reuse experience rooted in Hirakata City—
Jimoty Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takahiro Kato; hereinafter "Jimoty") will open "Jimoty Spot Hirakata Makino High School Mae Store" inside the TSUTAYA Makino High School store on June 26, 2026 (Friday), in collaboration with Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa Prefecture; President and CEO: Yasunori Takahashi; hereinafter "CCC"), based on an agreement on reuse concluded with Hirakata City, Osaka Prefecture (hereinafter "Hirakata City") in May 2023.
"Jimoty Spot Hirakata Makino High School Mae Store" is the first Jimoty Spot to be located inside a TSUTAYA store, and it is also the first public-private partnership reuse center to open in Hirakata City. Jimoty Spot aims to reduce waste by approximately 4,300 tons annually across its locations nationwide by fiscal year 2025, and in Hirakata City, it also aims to accelerate resource recycling and reduce waste disposal costs.
Co-creating a community-based reuse lifestyle
Jimoty and CCC are jointly promoting the development of "Jimoty Spot" as a new initiative that contributes to solving local community issues and revitalizing communities. This new store opening follows the first one (Kobe Jamesyama store) in October 2025, and marks the first time the store will be located inside a TSUTAYA store. By proposing a new reuse experience rooted in the Hirakata area—where you can bring in or pick up items while you're already at TSUTAYA—we aim to create an environment where people can participate in reuse more easily and promote resource circulation within the community.
Through this initiative, the two companies plan to not only provide reuse facilities but also jointly develop various projects that connect local communities and people, such as holding events for local residents and revitalizing the community. This is part of TSUTAYA's efforts to realize its vision of "an experiential bookstore that fosters interaction within the community," and it will also play a role as a community hub that connects local areas through events and other activities. Furthermore, we aim to expand the local reuse culture by challenging ourselves to develop and open new business formats that are not bound by conventional store formats.
About Jimoty Spot
Jimoty Spot is a service that allows people in your community to exchange items that are still usable but no longer needed. If you have unwanted items you'd like to give away, simply bring them in without an appointment, and they'll be connected to someone who needs them next. Those interested in receiving the item can check the product information on the local information website "Jimoty," and then purchase or pick up the item after viewing it in person at the store. We widely reuse "still usable items" that have low resale value and tend to be thrown away, including items that are not bought by recycling shops and furniture that incurs high shipping costs.
[Three benefits for citizens and local governments]
■ For those who want to give away unwanted items
・No reservation required, no fees, and it reduces the hassle and cost of disposing of bulky waste.
■Those who wish to receive it
・You can get used items at an affordable price, or even for free.
■Municipality
- It will reduce waste generation and effectively promote waste reduction and resource recycling within the community.

Nationwide waste reduction achievements and future prospects
Jimoty has signed reuse agreements with 301 municipalities nationwide, and operates Jimoty Spots in 36 of those municipalities. By 2025, approximately 1.4 million items will have been reused at locations nationwide, resulting in a waste reduction of approximately 4,300 tons (*1). We plan to expand the number of Jimoty Spot locations to 329 by 2030. This is expected to reduce waste by approximately 84,000 tons per year (254 tons per store per year) (*2), which is equivalent to about 6% of the total amount of bulky waste and clothing waste generated throughout Japan (*3).
*1 Calculated from the average weight of unwanted items brought in and the number of items reused.
*2 Average performance of Jimoty Spot stores in 2025 (data compiled from the month following opening, excluding areas with limited operating days or small populations)
*3 Annual collection volume of household bulky waste is approximately 860,000 tons (Ministry of the Environment, "General Waste Treatment Survey Results for FY2023") + Annual volume of combustible and non-combustible clothing waste is approximately 480,000 tons (Ministry of the Environment, "Summary Report of the Survey on Measures to Promote Circular Fashion for FY2024 (Material Flow)").
Jimoty Spot aims to further strengthen its collaboration with local governments and businesses, and by establishing locations where anyone can easily reuse items, it wants to make "giving things away" as easy an option as "throwing things away."We will develop social infrastructure where reuse is commonplace, making local life richer and more sustainable.
